IELTS Academic Exam Structure
Total test time: 2 hours 45 minutes. Listening, Reading, and Writing are taken on the same day with no breaks between them. The Speaking test may be on the same day or up to 7 days before/after.

Critical Notes
No breaks between Listening, Reading, Writing: These three sections run consecutively. Manage your time carefully, especially in Writing.
Face-to-face Speaking: Unlike TOEFL, IELTS Speaking is conducted with a real examiner in a private room, not a computer.
Task 2 is worth double: The Writing Task 2 essay contributes twice as much to your Writing band score as Task 1.
